Optional Meta Verified profiles require users to submit a government-issued ID.
Account name needs to meet profile name eligibility. Users must also provide video selfie verification to match their ID photo.
No policy prohibiting targeted deadnaming.

Meta policy prohibits harassment based on claims about a person’s gender identity under certain circumstances.
Misgendering must be reported by the individual being targeted. Public figures are not protected under this policy..
“In addition to all the protections listed above, all private minors, private adults (who must self-report), and minor involuntary public figures are protected from: Claims about romantic involvement, sexual orientation or gender identity.”
Legal name is not required for signup.
We understand things like changing your name can be a challenging process for transgender, gender non-conforming, genderqueer and non-binary people. You can use your preferred name to update your information (example: your bio, personal account and payment info) and update your gender identity on Instagram. Please note that updating your name in some places on Instagram may require you to submit one or more documents with your preferred name.
Users can change their display name and username at any point.
Name can only be changed twice within 14 days.
Users can display up to 4 pronouns on their profile. Toggle for showing pronouns to followers only.
There is a limited list of approved pronouns for each language. Users can request custom pronouns via a form.

Community Guidelines prohibit hate speech directed at someone’s gender identity.
“We define hate speech as direct attacks against people — rather than concepts or institutions— on the basis of what we call protected characteristics (PCs): race, ethnicity, national origin, disability, religious affiliation, caste, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity, and serious disease.”
Users can delete comments left under their own posts even if they don’t violate community guidelines.
