No native form to display gender pronouns. Users can add to their display name or to their bio.

The option is not in the current future plans for the platform.

Ineffective policy “prohibiting” deadnaming and misgendering.

Policy only applies where required by law (the only country to enforce this is Brazil as of April 2024), and must be reported by the individual subjected to the harassment. Posts will not be deleted but visibility will be “reduced”. Possible exceptions for repeated violations.

“Use of Prior Names and Pronouns: Where required by local laws, we will reduce the visibility of posts that purposefully use different pronouns to address someone other than what that person uses for themselves, or that use a previous name that someone no longer goes by as part of their transition. Given the complexity of determining whether such a violation has occurred, we must always hear from the target to determine if a violation has occurred.”

X collects data from engagement activity to infer a users’ gender. For trans users these inferences may be inaccurate.
